She ran great I noticed she wanted the front but I didn't get to watch her run but 2 races and they killed the rabbits I also got to see the daddy of my pups rin the last couple times out a friend has the daddy and I have their mom.

I can't complain she was a gift and I bought the pups so I don't have a whole lot invested

I raise Weir Creeks I have every type of Weir Creek bloodlines that has been bred. Mine all run a 6-7 on foot speed and have the great hard hunt and jumping abilities that the bloodline is highly noted for. upper med speed with gears to walk it out when they have too and run when the conditions allow. In all the year's I have been breeding them , this is what I have seen.Pups that are started with grown dogs become more aggressive on the line and fight some for the front. The key is to start them by theirselves. They will not need no help from an older dog. The hunt is bred into them and they have real good line control if brought along slowly. Then I will brace them with another pup that is started so they will have equal work in the race. Older dogs have tendencies to control the race. (carry the front) then your pup isn't getting an opportunity for a clean track and could feel the pressure and cause them to become competive for the front/ track. All mine can run solo as well as in a pack. If you are looking to trial in AKC SPO in the south in most areaswill need to finish by their 3rd birthday because they will get rabbit smart and cut some corners the older they get. Then you can take them up north and clean house! LOL! 28 years ago I was running and raising different bloodlines. Seen my first real Weir Creek run in 1988 and become a straight up Weir Creek man

Ever heard of chuck bankston in Monroe,la he has the finest weir creek bloodline, he had a hall of fame dog name chucks willy we bought a pup from him years ago and we named him josh's lucky spin this was pre 1996 that beagle was 100% weir creek and just out of boredom and fun we took him to a state trail and he won, so we decided to take him to a few more in less than 10 months he had won 1st place 9 times and was made grand champion in the next 3 months but mainly he was a great hunting dog could have killed 100's of rabbits in front of him but he was just fun to watch and listen to. we had the privlage of having over 4,000 acres behide my daddy's house to run rabbits and hunted all over south Alabama in prime deer country where rabbits were and he never ran nothing but a rabbit, the only dog I ever owned that never wore a shock collar, but my daddy was hurt in a mining accident and I haven't hunted since but I would like to get me another beagle or two and would love them to be weir creek they are a great med to fast speed dog, what I call gun dog speed but as you stated has enough sense to run to there environment and the weather condition and terrain, my opinion the best bloodline available to hunt rabbit so if you know anyone with a 100% weir creek bloodline id love to buy a male puppy only after seeing there mom and dad run a rabbit

Weir Creek

Im going to be tacky and steal this post.

High Rock: I am looking for a liver and white/chocolate and white weir creek stud. I have a post on "WTB". I origionally posted for areas near middle Tennessee but I would drive to your area for the right stud and the right price. If you have a nice mature male that I could look at please call me.

Mr High Rock,... what size hound do you typically produce in your program?

Fine lookin dog in your avatar!

Materjuice
When you line breed you loose size. I breed for big but average 12.5 -14 at best but lean toward 13 and under. I've been keeping the biggest for my self over the years to help .

I've seen and judged James Willie AKC name of Chucks ARHA Little Willie. He was a 3/4 Weir Creek bred. Ran more like a little pack style dog, would cut and swing to get the front . Had the Weir Creek hunt and good nose. I had a son back years ago that was Top Knotch but I was running a Little pack style dog years ago. I still have that blood but not in large dosage.A lot of my Boggy Holler goes back to William Webster stock.I heard several years ago that William got down in the back and about all Quit breeding them. Chuck Bankston contacted me about three years ago looking don't know how he made out. I didn't have anything for him at that time.
