step one... put the colar on the hounds and let them get used to it. Leave it on for an hour or two and then take it off.

step two... put collar on hound, tie a 15 - 20' rope to the hound, call and pull the hound to you, praise them when they get to ya. Repeat until they come on command. Then add the tone to it .. call while toning and pulling. then after that is achieved quit calling... only tone and pull.

This takes a couple of outings to get the swing... once mastered only tone...

step three... place collar on hound, tone only.... if they do not respond, tickle with #1 while calling... when they begin to come to you let off the button. they need to learn for the sensation to quit they need to come to you. #1 may be weak , depending on hound, watch their reaction... you should see them slightly cock their head... if not try #2 next time.

do not want to hit them hard with these collars while trying to aclimate them... you will make them collar shy and they will not do squat for fear of getting bumped. Patience ... lots of it...

Sorry for chiming in to this thread so late, but I just had to share this in case it helps someone out. I wish I had gotten this advice years ago.

Training your dog really is the only long-term solution, OP.

I love my dog so much but it constantly did the things that irked me most. It would chew on things that it shouldn’t or jump up and down out of the blue.

Whenever I put on the leash, it would pull on it. Whenever it was out of the house, it would continue digging on the ground - I wish I could tell what it was looking for down there. The same goes for all the nasty urine.

All the things it did left me feeling depressed as if I failed it monumentally.

But since I discovered Brain Training 4 Dogs and applied the system offered, it now behaves the way a beautiful dog I always expect of. I highly recommend it.

Here's a link to their site. Good luck! :)

The first thing you need to do is acclimate them to the collar and check stimulation level dog needs. Also make sure collar prongs are on neck not dangling. You don’t want intermittent stimulation. You also don’t want to strangle them but snug it good.
Ok so set the collar on a real low setting. Let the dog play run around a pen whatever. Tap the stim button. Dog prob won’t respond. Go up one. Try again. Once the dog looks kinda inquisitive perhaps cocking it’s head you go up one more click. That’s a starting stimulation point. By not doing this collar breaking you risk a dog being shocked the first time freaking out and running away from “shock.“
You can start with a cord. Let the dog get out, say here as you press stim. Dog gets pulled toward ya lightly. Stop the stim. The reward of stim stoppping is it complying. After a few times a simple here and the dog will prob start towards you. If not start the stimulation.
As tolerance if any develops, step up the stimulation. Tone breaking is doing same thing with tone than stim.
Breaking as in off game, I’d let them say get into running a deer. I’d not say a word. Let them get a nose full. The stim would be high and continuous.
After they got into the scent stream they’d get hit hard. By not saying a word I believe they associate it with the deer.
