Ticks

I used the purple tags for close to 20 yrs while I kept a dozen or so hounds. Have had “0” issues with any of them …….. If I was to again keep a larger kennel , would go right back to. We also used them on some goats and cattle. They are only effective on the larger animals , in the region where they are ear attached. We did both ears simultaneously. Face , neck upper back. Ticks still feast on other parts of the body. Was mostly to control biting flys. So the theory they are designed for a 1000 lb animal doesn’t ring completely true.
With only 4 hounds now , I have been using flea and tick collars. I read dozens of reviews on different ones. The Hartz Ultra Guard Pro Max was the only one I found with no negative reviews. Gave it a try. Two collars $28. Can make a 3rd with the scraps . Works excellent, and no side effects. Absolutely no biting ticks on hounds. I do remove the collars , each time they run. Put back on when they go back into the crate. Only use on my outdoor hounds.
Use Simparica on indoor Lab. Once a month chewable. Ticks / Fleas / Heart worm. If you find any ticks biting , they are always dead.

This is what I use around my Kennel’s, livestock & used to the hounds. I use bravecto now on all my hounds. And very happy with it. Glad I tried it. But if you feel bravecto is to pricey for you give this a try. It’s 38 percent permethrin. Hence the name( hy- yield 38) . Mix with water at 10% to spray hounds or livestock and it’s at the same percent of permethrin you buy already mixed at store for lots more money. Also I mix it stronger to spray around Kennel’s. You get 4times the amount of permethrin for same amount of money.
