Just wondering if any of you have a preference of how like your hounds to sound? chop? bawl? squealy? I have a mix of all 3 and love the sound they make

I like chop with a little brawl thrown in there . Out of the 7 that my nephew and I run , I can only name 3 of them when they open . I have all 3 of them . Squeal is my least favorite .

I've always loved the sound of a bawl mouthed hound.I know that there are folks here who have pointed out that when a hound lifts it's head to bawl it might cause a check, but as long as it can solve the loss I'll accept that just to hear the music.If I was a field trial guy I might feel differently. However the two dogs I have now aren't bawl mouthed but I love them and they will be with me until death do us part.

I have one that bawls, one chops and 2 has a squealy mouth , no clue what my 3 pups is going to sound as they havent opened their yap yet lol

I like a combination of them all. I remember as a child hearing that beautiful sound moving down the hollow at my Grandfather’s farm.

As a youngster the guy we hunted with had bawl mouthed dogs. I have one with a bawl mouth. Just kind of partial to that

I love a fast chop, but my best dog is a bawl mouth dogs go figure. Cant stand a dog that squeals. You get four dogs with a deep fast chop there is not better sound IMO.

My two girls both have a chop mouth. Higher pitch. We run with my buddy’s male who definitely has a bawl. I’m indifferent about what I like more. It’s all beautiful music to me.

My preference is a machine gun chop but honestly it doesn't matter to me. I have or had them all. I subscribe to the thinking an old friend of mine had. He said I don't care if the dog is whistling as long as it is circling the rabbit.

I like a pack with different types of mouth...

I mostly like a bawl rollin over to a chop

I like a squealy mouthed dog just because you can hear them a good ways away...

I only like a steady chop for a tree dog..
But Doesn't bother me for a beagle though

Like most folks up here.... I just like hearing a pack in full cry... no matter the types of mouth they have...

I don't hear very well anymore so being loud is a big deal to me too.

I agree i like the squeal the worst. Like a dog w a chop because they typically have their head down. Bawlers pick up heads. A good chop mouth behind em turns and keeps running while the bawl mouth is looking at the clouds. Love the sound hate the way they do it

Prefer a chop mouth. But we have one male that has a screaming bawl mouth. Things are getting exciting when he screams out.

I like the HORN type mouth, can hear them a long ways off. My old Patch female had that mouth. I have yet to hear another horn mouth, A machine gun chop is the next best. JMO

My old male has a horn. Got 2 that sounds real close but can’t describe lol then got a chop mouth and a quivering chop mouth . But nothing sounds like 8-10 all burning one up in a holler and it echoing. Just saying
