Probably doesn’t take very long with that many on the ground to get one jumped! Lol
This time of year, I can find about 1 rabbit per hour where I live in SE Ohio (a little better in spring and summer), mostly hunting on public land. Years ago, there were a lot more rabbits. Now they are only in the thickest cover.

As a young man, I used to jump a lot of rabbits myself and would find some “sitting” just about every hunt. Now the hounds jump them all. Having a big pack out each time does help me cover more ground when searching. I think if someone was hunting one dog in my area, he’d better be a terrific jump dog or days could be very long and tough. That’s probably why I seldom see anyone else rabbit hunting. It’s all deer and turkey now. Private lands are leased.

Awsome!!!!......Beautiful, stocky...strong...... built hounds, great sound they are really getting after it!!!!

Wow....I saws some fine looking hounds in that brief segment of video that really caught my eye in the middle of that pack that would probably run really well with what I breed and keep here.

Man those are Beautiful, impressive to watch Houndy dogs with great mouths...

I like to run small packs......…..BUT……….Like you Huntsman.........I ... LOVE.....to run big packs of my breeding of hounds too! Man I really do love it!!!!

At times during the season last year I ran 12 - 15 dogs a few times in large places that allowed for a pack of that size. Man as you know it is a steady roar!

When I run my hounds in a large pack they tend to line up in a straight line like a long train...... some folks don't like that...... but I breed for it.

If the front hound or hounds bobbles (pauses) a bit or misses a turn a little bit another turns with it and they line up behind that one and keep moving forward. Some folks call it sniffing each others butts it seems to work extremely well for me when hunting throughout the years producing very good results.

I saw some good looking dogs you had in that fine bunch of hounds that I think would in fit well and run very nice with mine! We could make some beautiful hound music together and have lots of fun doing it.

I wish you were close as we would run large packs of dogs often and put together some fine large packs of dogs that would kill the rabbits we did not shoot if left down.

Beautiful hounds and good listening very enjoyable. Thank you for posting your fine hounds. Please post more when ever you can.

I am going to try and get some video of my plugs filmed this season if I can get someone to help me.

Lots of folks on here been poking me pretty good about it specially that.... Donnie Dew...I like him.....so I need to try and get that done for them. After all they deserve to eat a little crow too. I have found crow to be quite tasty after eating it a while now. I feel like a crow sometimes.

Looks and sounds nice! I like i! We would run 7-10 dogs up north on snowshoe!
Yes, did that years ago and it was a blast. I remember one time a hare turned just inside the cover in front of me and when the pack came around my big males making the turn were throwing dirt like dirt track race cars. Some things you never forget.

How did your pup do? Handle the pack pressure? Just wondering!

The puppy is doing so well. Stays in all the runs even though he has no idea what the others are doing. I think he’ll be running in no time. He acts like he’s been part of the pack for months instead of days. He’s not quite 7 months old, which is about the age I start taking puppies with the pack. He’s from a Abshire’s Junie x Reffetts male crossed onto one of my older females. I am trying to overlook the lost conformation in hopes that he hunts well. I admire his level-headedness and maturity at such a young age.

I liked that one from Feb. too. Nice catch on the rabbit coming through and the hounds following it up...

You might like 4-15-18 Part 2. Hounds get a little wide in the open, but it’s still my favorite. Most of the hounds in that pack are still hunting today, but a few have passed on. Part of the challenge of keeping hounds over time is to replace those you lose.

I bred to FC Northway Ninja in 1995 and have a lot of hounds who go back to a super female from that cross. Also have several who go back to Spur through Osborne’s Spade. The puppy from this year is the first with Dexter Reffett’s lines, all going back to FC Northway Spur. I like the way that line runs, but the poor conformation keeps me from having a lot of it. I can’t find field lines that don’t knock down my conformation these days.

When you say poor conformation what exactly do you mean? A lot of my uncles hounds go back to Northway spur. I wish he kept up with pedigree and registration but he doesn’t on most of his pack but there’s a couple that he has paperwork on and there Northway/Reffets/Branko
