Took the hounds out this afternoon. It was the first time in months that I could hunt alone with my two hounds.
We ran two, one really good chase that I watched for about an hour before I decided to take the shot. I watched this rabbit back track, jump and bounce across a field. It threw all of its tricks it could but my girls held true.
Running just my two was very satisfying. They compliment each other and run well together.
Just a great day to be a sportsman

It is very eye opening watching the tricks rabbits throw and how the hounds figure it.
I run with friends on a regular basis, one hound is usually a head of the others and over runs the track a lot. That’s what was nice yesterday, just mine doing their thing.

I have extended family that live there . My grandma is from Beckley . She moved to Virginia right after graduation and got a job at a tobacco company here and meet my grandpa . All of her brothers worked in the coal mines . All of them are dead now , so the only relatives would be from their children’s children . When her brothers were still alive we would go there for family reunions every so often .

I am 90 minutes north. We own my wife’s home place. We bought it off her dad 15 years ago and moved here full time 3 years ago. Spent too many years chasing the corporate ladder before I realized what was most important in life.
