Question on ivomec...as noted in an earlier post I had a dog test positive for heartworms yesterday who had been on monthly treatment . I told the vet that was my first time this has ever happened. His response was "well ivomec is not what it use to be." I have since heard that others feel the same way. My question is do we need to change something we are doing as a monthly treatment?

ivomec in the bottle is watered down. it aint what it used to be. my dad used it on cows for years and he could tell a big difference in the batches from the last few years.

Whatever you choose to use and feel comfortable with is terrific, understand that there's no more active ingredient in heart guard 1% than ivermectin in the bottle 1% horse wormer is 1% ivermectin, use what you think is best but no drug is 100% effective

As stated above, Heartguard contains ivermectin.

There are a number of possible causes for dog on preventative to test positive for heartworms. #1 is likely the most common.
1) Inconsistent dosing of preventive medications: (missed a dose, stopped for winter in area that has warm weather in winter, missed one dog in kennel etc),
2) Problem with heartworm testing (can take long time for heartworm antigen test to turn positive after an animal has been infected with heartworms due to immature infection that is not showing up antigen positive yet). Therefore some dogs (especially those with prior unknown history may be assumed to be negative when they are actually already infected).
3) Resistance of heartworms to preventative: Recent research has demonstrated some level of resistance of heartworms to all the major classes of preventaive compounds.

It is Christmas Time and well.... you and I been talking some... on the phone and in text for a few months now ….and.... I am starting to feel like we are just about family. Man oh man a good solid built, well bred pup would sure would go a heck of long way in our future together....It could even be some of the...... glue...…. that holds our relationship together.

You should do like Mr. Will and Greenhaw and I do...... as they are my GOOD friends.

They send me a real nice fine pup every now to help me improve and my line going down heren out of Mr. H and some out of Honey Bun and real nice bitch's and males.....and..... I send them whatever they need..... real good...... out of what ever I have down here that will work outstanding with what they already have that is real good...whenever they need or ask. I send them Something that will really work good to help improve their blackcreek line of hounds up there for future breeding's when they need something of real high quality that is different in the line to help keep it going in the best possible direction in the future.

They call that looking ahead and moving forward. They also call it Team Work!...... Mr. Will and Greenhaw taught me all that.

They told me that you call that...…. working together for the betterment of the breed....They say....We should always be big enough to put principles before personalities and do what is best for the dogs when breeding even if we can't stand each other for long periods of time. I have been told...That is what the old timers did. I have also find it builds relationships and better dogs and people come from it.

That's what real love is.... and pups out of a dogs named CRACK.....Have a real nice ring to them.

OH......….Y-e-a...……I have already exposed that one to the LIGHT....earlier this week...….and he almost...... burst into flames!

Actually he slipped up twice, two times, during our long.... almost hypnotic phone conversation the other evening while trying to get me to feel sorry for him.... while actually.... he was slithering feeling and cunningly... HUNTING.... his was around..... trying to get me to sell him some grown dogs he could use now!

Just like he has been doing to many of you. Oh yea...That's an OLE DEVIL right there.....I have seen and dealt with those ancient ones many times before. That kind only comes out by prayer and fasting....So...…. PUT ON YOUR ARMOR...….. as this one is a piercing serpent.

He wasn't interested in any of my trash pups...I offered him....Oh no.....or breeding to one of my trash males proven to put HUNT in many of his pups.....OH... N-O.....he attempted to hustle me to fulfill his lust for grown dogs!!!!!...NOW....to hunt with...NOW...….Oh Y-E-A... He wanted the big boys.... and he wanted them ...NOW......but....right in the moment, just before his sultry deceptive attack!!!!...…HE SLIPPED UP...TWO...TIMES.....Yes.... he did....twice ….in almost the same sentence and then...…. smoothly and deceivingly, ever so controlled and slyly tried to talk his way..... right through it..... just as if it never really happened.... to cover up his tiny but small little bitty stutter.....in his deceivingly smooth digging around conversation.....B-U-T.... Mitch you need one of the weekly doze containers, but you have to remember the days of the week to make it work.
Just don't want you to have issues with Christmas coming up. Need to have stories of your hunting outings posted here.
