I have a 5 year old male thay will limp after running hard. He can barely go 2 days in a row but he is my best jump dog and hate to leave him home but at the same time don't want to cause him to get injured. Is there anything I can hive him to help with the soreness? Nothing in his paw he just seems to be sore.
You can give him some baby aspirin to help with swelling and pain. If you run him and he’s struggling because of the leg hurting , put him up. Something is strained or pulled, if you keep running him it will always be irritated and never heal up. JMO
He usually gets to rest over the hot months in the summer. It usually happens after he runs hard and then rides home on the box. Im going to ask around and find out what will help him the most.
Give Mike or Sandy at Okie Dog Supply a call. Glucosamine works pretty good on some of my older dogs. This is a joint supplement. As stated an inflammatory med. would help also. Usually rest is your best and cheapest route to go. All stated in previous post.
There are a number of possibilities. A visit to DVM would be advisable. Arthritis is a possibility in older dog that becomes sore after period of rest following hard running. As stated above anti-inflammatory medications such as remadyl will help with arthritis but will not make it go away.
I read your paragraph over again, maybe an x-ray would help out.
