If you want to see the digital copy of Hounds and Hunting for this month, go to the link, and scroll down about half a page looking for the orange button in the middle of the page. Apparently, and as I was told, some people have not received the January issue so the lady that owns the magazine is making it free for everyone this month.

I have not received mine either. I have defended Kaylynn but that is about to end. How difficult would it be for her to go on this site and explain what is going on. Just this past Friday I cancelled my subscription for the local newspaper because it became a hit and miss situation. I refuse to pay for something I don't get. The newspaper was no news by the time I received it since I had already seen it on TV. H&H is on a down hill slide in my opinion. I would hate to see it gone but I can live without it. I have been a customer for over 44 years.

Some of you have been making excuses for her for the past 2 years now, it's time to realize it's her.

Really sad and appalling how she's destroyed Better Beagling, I sure miss it, it was a great magazine.
I see she's eliminated all the owners/editors of Better Beagling's history as well, reminds me of another group in this country that's trying to erase our history!
Yet, she takes Better Beagling's ideas such as high hound award and make them h&h now, smh.

If this digital version is accurate, I see the Midwest, Midsouth, LPH, etc. clubs don't even advertise trials nor results anymore. Sooner or later she's going to learn, you reap what you sow.

Here's what I don't understand, if she was going to dismantle/eliminate Better Beagling, why did she buy it? Is The American Beagler next?

Sorry if this is a negative post, but like my Dad says, "don't p*ss down my back and tell me it's raining".

To be fair, the LPH, Midwest/Midsouth folks didn’t give her a chance. As soon as they heard she was combining “their” magazine (Better Beagling) with the “slow dog” magazine (Hounds and Hunting), they immediately withdrew all support for her without even seeing how she would do. She really had no choice. Magazines are having a tough go of it right now. The Internet has put many magazines out of business. There was no way two magazines could continue to be profitable. If it had been me, I would have gone down to just one magazine, probably Hounds and Hunting which has better support and a longer history, and tried to get all types of beagles on board. The show folks lost their (very nice) quarterly magazine last year, so some of those people may have wanted to join H&H too.

But the young lady just doesn’t have the background and time to make one magazine a big success for all types of beagles. She is not a talented writer, and that handicaps her greatly. An editor with strong writing skills can practically carry a magazine, Ike Carrel did that for years.

I down loaded this issue and Better Beagling had two pages of the entire thing!
It sure didn't look like the old ones I read at Marty's cabin... too bad because I would have subscribed to those, this one didn't appeal to me at all.
How do you like the UKC magazine? If I remember correctly you were going to try that.

That isn't exactly true, they gave her a year before they started pulling ads and results.

It was ok, but not as good as the old Better Beagling in my opinion. I don't run UKC so it didn't really interest me. She ended up buying it as well around this time last year from Janie and I didn't renew it when it was up this past summer.

No they really didn’t. Only a few trials were advertised. There were zero stud ads. It was as if the LPH/Midwest trialers thought being in the same magazine as the UBGF might contaminate their hounds somehow. Too bad there was such petty behavior. I don’t miss all the ads for Branko bred hounds, though.

So after reading all of this, will I get a January issue or do I have to view it on line. And if so, how do I do it. At last years hunt I bought subscriptions for several kids. I wonder if they are receiving theirs. Good business would dictate that some advance notice go out on the change. If she can't meet her commitments she should reimburse for issues not received. I realize that the January issue would be the last one in a years subscription, however, later in the year I bought some more for kids. I talked Kaylynn into coming to the hunt and paid her motel room for her. She did write an article about the hunt but it seems to me that does not go far enough. I have been a subscriber for 46 years. Not a very good way to treat a long term customer. Am I wrong???
