I agree with 5 Solas that President Trump has a very poor record with respect to the environment. Someday climate change will affect the future of our planet in ways not yet fully understood. Heck, it already is!
However, it’s becoming very clear that our political parties are aligned country folk vs city folk, and that divide is growing. Look at where Biden’s main source of support came from in this election. In my state of Ohio, overall we voted Trump, but all the big city counties in the State went Biden.
We can look at England, Scotland, and Wales to see what could be our future if we aren’t very careful. There, it’s Labour (city liberals) vs Conservatives (countryside values). In 2004, Prime Minister Tony Blair, from the Labour Party, introduced and passed legislation to ban hunting with hounds. Since 2004, hunting packs in England must follow artificial scent instead of stag, hare or fox they had hunted for centuries. Indeed, our beagles and many other hounds came originally from English hunting hounds. For the last 16 years, artificial hunting carries on there, as the Conservative Party continues to try to remove the ban, with no success even bringing it to a vote.
Now, it should be very clear to you which party in America will do the same to us when the chance arises. Should Kamela Harris, AOC, Bernie Sanders, or any other liberal leaning Democrat get the opportunity, the worst could also be in store for the countryside people of America.
That is why I continue to vote Republican, even when I am not particularly a fan of the current president. His treatment of Greta Thunberg was especially embarrassing, in my opinion. My hope is that eventually we will have a Republican candidate who supports environmental issues AND is against gun control and any attempts to dissolve our hunting rights. We have 4 years to find that person, it appears. Maybe he or she cannot be found?
