Two of my females got to fighting a week or so ago and I noticed yesterday that one of the wounds on one of their ears had become infected. Swollen and full of puss. Just curious if anyone has dealt with this before and what y’all did for it? Any help would be great. Thanks!

Clean it up and put iodine on it should help to dry it up

old trick I use to do was lance the bottom of infected pockets so they would drain and squirt some of the content of a mastitis tube in it

Get you some vetericyn and spray it on there a couple times a day it works

Lance it, sqeeze it all out, put syringe full of peroxide in to flush it out. Give her a cc of penicillin in her hip muscle.

Now if its on the flat hanging down part of the ear and its big and full of blood, it will just keep filling with blood, trip to vet my be needed.

I use peroxide 2x daily and also give Amoxicillin to fight infection 250mg

Spurs big fix. It’s got iodine in it and it’s got something for infection. But like they said Lance it first. Or furazone does well also. We use both on our horses and it does well. Also use on dogs. The old male that my old dogs was out of got in a fight with a German Shepard. Friend of mine gave him to me said he couldn’t sell him like that. 3 days of furazone on the cut on his neck you couldn’t even see it.

Lance it, squirt peroxide into the cut area and flush it with the peroxide 2-3 times a day. Give some type of antibiotic or a shot of penicillin into the hip muscle for fast injecting, can put shot under the skin for a slow release of the penicillin.
Keep a eye on it, separate the females. Have each female her own pen. JMO
Not to be critical Mac but this is why I don't double any of my dogs up. They are always trying to establish the pecking order. JMO

Yes it is healing up. The infection is gone now just has a hematoma that won’t stay drained. Drain it every day and it just fills back up with blood

Have male that had a hematoma in his ear that won't stay drained. Had to take him to the vet & get it fixed.

Mac Cooley are you using a syringe without the needle and squirting Peroxide into the ear to help the inside get cleaned so it will heal?

Like a said above, it will probably need to go to vet to get fixed or it will just keep filling.

Follow spini Advice because I had one got in a fight with another dog His ear an head got really infected I squeezed it out gave him a shot of anabiotic’s in the hip waited a couple days and gave him another shot it healed up good and he was looking good but I did not know the infection had got inside his head 2 months he was gone
