Fine day today 2 young dogs hunted hard and ran really good, ran 6 killed 2 with the contender on public ground I’ll take that any day !
And being Saturday I went to 3 places before I found an unoccupied spot and had to make a pretty good hike to get away from the over hunted areas but found a pretty dang good spot .

So glad you made this post. I'm been second guessing my and my dogs abilities. We also hunt public land and seem to hike miles and get 1-2 rabbits per trip. I keep seeing the full tailgate pics and I think it altered my view of what a hunt should be.

I also have a Contender .410 I hunt with, but have been thinking about getting a Taurus Judge or S&W Governor. Anybody have any experience with either of those and if so what do you think about them for a rabbit gun? I'm thinking the shorter barrels would not do very well, probably the 6.5 inch Judge would be the best option.

Mine is the T/C contender with 14in VR barrel , finding them is not real easy I found several on gun broker but was always a day late so ended up buying a new one and to do that I had to buy the frame and the barrel separate I found the frame at budsgunshop.com but can’t remember where I ordered the barrel from .
Its a lot of fun and I’m getting to be a little better shot with it lol

I bought a judge last year 3" chamber w/ 6.5" barrel. I couldn't find the contender and was tired of waiting so I went with that and love but check your state regulations because in Missouri a shotgun can only hold 3 shells. I had to plug 2 cylinders on mine to be legal, I just used a short dowel and high temp engine silicone at each end to hold the dowel in. It's nice having your hand's free while running/hunting but if I decide to shoot one I still can.

Roger that! Our shotguns can hold 5, but I don’t think it’s legal to even rabbit hunt with a contender. But the law is not very clear, so I’m will to take my chances and beg for forgiveness than asking permission!!😂😂

You should be able to use a contender to rabbit hunt. JMO

I'm not sure but I don't think the judge has a choke and since the barrel is rifled there is nothing to stop the wad spin and this causes pattern to be really wide open at very short distance. I might be wrong , it's been a while since I looked into it.

Mine does alright around 15-20 yards but yeah it’s not choked but I’m not trying long shots with it
