Hello all. I'm new here and hoping to learn a few things and meet some folks. I'm getting into hounds again and thinking about picking up another dog. I have a young dog about 15 months that needs help getting started. Good bloodlines as far as i can see. Idk maybe someone here can give their opinion. At any rate i thought if someone had a broke dog up for sale i would throw this out there. Hopefully get this dog going and get my son off the couch!

Your dog should have a good snow nose, have you thought about putting him in a starting pen for a month, while you look for a pup trainer.? JMO

I have thought about it but unfortunately i don't know of anyone that has one near me.

Get the dog in a starting pen, its the best when having not enough time to run. But when you get him back, get him into rabbits so he can be reinforced what he learned at the pen. JMO

We're having a big get together down in Somerset KY the last weekend of January. You will get to see alot of different dogs work and meet some fine people who could get you headed in the right direction. Bring your boy, I promise he won't be sitting around on the couch with all the excitement going on.

Oliver and Blue Bay on the top side of that pedigree were top hounds, both running and reproducing. Both were Better Beagling's top producers several years.
I agree with finding a starting pen, that hound should be pounding already at 15 months old.

We are in central Ohio. Mansfield area. My son is 10 now so he is starting to show some interest.

Took him out a few hours this morning. He absolutely went nuts on the first fence row for about 20 yards and then flushed a nice cock bird. Couldn't get a shot as it flushed on the opposite side. Jumped a rabbit a while later and he chased it a little while. Unfortunately he seems to have trouble staying on them. We will keep working. I placed a call to a gentleman that is supposed to have a pen but haven't heard back yet.

Nice looking hound . Everyone has a different opinion and I’m ok with that , but I don’t shoot any off game when my dogs are on the ground .
