This evening around 6:30pm my little Bluetick opened up louder than ever and a hot chase started pulling in the pack. I walked to a high point to listen to a loud chase, my four hounds were singing some mountain music. I was leaning against a telephone pole and something caught my eye to the left but I didn’t see anything. A minute later I see a coyote go by. I run down the little patch of brush and there is three coyotes standing listening to the hounds. 75 yards and all I have is my EDC, Performance Center M&P Shield with 8 rounds, they had no idea I was there. Unload 4 rounds, I don’t know how close they came but I know I missed. They took off like lightning. I called the pack off and decided I had enough excitement for the night. I just caught a glimpse of that coyote in a small clearing. I got lucky. I won’t be running them without some more fire power for a while. I figure either my .223 bolt or an AR. We will see.
Those coyotes had food on their mind because this was the second chase and I had been there making noise.
I hate those stinking coyotes
