The country store down the road from our house is putting on a competitive rabbit hunt this weekend. Looks like it works kinda like a bass tournament, hope everyone leaves their sinkers at home! I just signed me and Stoney Creek up for it. We've got a secret spot where the rabbits grow huge. Dee Dee, Pepper, Sis, and Kash are goin for the gold this weekend!!!

We've got an even better plan Curnel, Stoney is ordering some tungsten shotgun shells. Said it's heavier than lead. I usually end up falling in the creek so that will help us out too. And if all else fails and we don't kill any that morning my neighbor's kids have a couple big fat flop eared rabbits I could probably borrow. I didn't see anywhere on the flyer that said the rabbits have to be wild or dead so I think we've got a pretty good shot at winning!

In case someone entering this hunt is reading this nonsense let the record show I am completely full of bull.

Does anyone feel a little uncomfortable in making killing rabbits a competition instead of actually hunting for table fare? Sure glad we don’t have these in my area - we have few enough rabbits without making a competition out of hunting them.
Lol. I promise ours aren't going in the dumpster after the weigh in and anyone who isn't gonna eat theirs is going home with me too. It's just a fun twist to end the season IMO.

I think it’s like the one we do each year. Lots of fun but we weigh individual rabbit not a limit. That’s what I can’t be sure about. You’re saying like a bass tournament so I’m thinking maybe limit weight?
No sinkers or stones shoved down the rabbits throat to make them weigh more. I seen it at a hunt in Michigan's thumb area. Cheating crooks. Got caught though.

A friend and I might have to go to west tenn get our 2 real quick then come up lol they will be swampers lol
Lol probably wouldn't be worth the gas money to make the drive. I thought only bass fishermen spent more on gas than they have the chance to win at the tournament.

Tournament rabbit hunts are really popular around me. I know of 5 that are sponsored by local churches. At first I thought what a great idea (back in 2000). I truly enjoyed the day, running my dogs for friends and family. Most of which had never showed any interest in rabbits or dogs. My argument has always been with the dates, unlike your Tournament ours are all at the end of March. The last one I will ever be apart of, ended with a 2' by 10' pile of bunnies going into a dumpster. The people that were involved in the hunt didn't know anything about how to clean a rabbit or that they were even edible. They showed no respect for our sport or the critters we love to chase. I left that day with a sick feeling in my gut
