Cherry Eye, Maybe???

When a hound has a “cherry eye”, has anyone ever known for it to cover the entire eyeball? I had a pup once that had a “cherry eye”, but it was only in the inside corner of the eye. I came home today to find my young pup with what appeared to be a “cherry eye”, however it was covering the entire eyeball.
Ideas/thoughts please.

I'M NOT A VET BUT A cherry eye is a prolapsed lower eye lid I think, looks like that's the upper best I can see

Definitely a trip to the vet, however won’t be able to go until tomorrow morning. Just never seen anything like this before.

I haven't seen nothing like it either but I have seen an abscess that was behind the eyeball and it made the eyeball bulge out

I've had a cherry eye also but nothing to the nature of this pic. If it developed like it is in one day i would guess that it was an infection from a bite of some sort.... Just guessing

I had a walker puppy get bit by a German Shepard about 30 years ago looked like that the old vet I carried her to sewed the eye shut. Didn’t hurt her hunt or ability to run when she got old enough. Just had 1 eye.

Chris,... I'm like you brother! I've never seen as serious a case of it, as that!
I wish the young one well soon!

Are you and your crew gonna try to make it to the RD hunt this year?

Looks like it's gonna be a doozey this time!

I’m applying antibiotics right now to help with the inflammation and then I’ll have it removed.
The RD hunt, Yes Sir! Unless something unforeseen pops up, I’ll be there. May just be me and my dad this time. Can’t wait to see you guys again and meet the folks that didn’t get to make it last year.

I always heard the best surgical procedure is to have it sutured back into place. Removing the tear duct (cherry eye) can potentially cause a dry eye issue later.

Also, cherry eye is hereditary, so if you breed later it may show in some of the puppies.

Huntsman I had 1 removed one time and it was exactly like you said she had a dry eye from that point on , never seemed to effect her at all but it didn’t look the best

I’ve also heard that it was hereditary.

I know this is an old post. But I just brought my dog to the vet. This looks exactly like what he has
I would get that checked out at vet. It’s hard to tell from the picture but my first thought looking at picture was that his eye got put out. If not it’s definitely bad case of cherry eye. Like I said it’s just really hard to tell from the picture. If it’s cherry eye you can cut it out yourself using a new clean fish hook, sterile scapula & scissors. Then use terramycin ointment for 3 or 4 days.

The day before this it looked 100% cherry eye in the corner of his eye. I brought him to vet and they said it was infected and wanted to charge me 1300$ to remove his eye and be done with it. From the research I’ve done I fully believe it’s a real bad case of cherry eye. He is on antibiotics now. How wld u suggest I sedate him in order to remove it myself?

I had one similar. It cost about $75 and the vet removed it. Left a cone collar on him for a while after
