I’m playing with this cross now. Pups are 9 months old. Started easily. I felt like it was the ticket for me. My pups are loose in the check and too hot nosed for me. They kept more WC speed. They are busy little hunters, but don’t always produce rabbits. I’m hoping they mature into what I want.
Keep us posted.

Thanks for the feedback. I’d like to know how they progress.

When it comes to pups, i've never seen any get tighter in the check but rather much wider with age. They pretty much have a genetic style of running at starting and then its up to the trainer to develop that and not screw it up. So, if they are too loose at starting, thats the ones that get weeded out along with other obvious objectionable traits.
Always tough decisions because so much time and effort gets invested.

Weir creeks are gonna likely run looser in the check and be a little hotter nosed in my opinion. If you aren't getting the hunt from the Buckshot dogs then you need to look at the outcrosses into them. Use Buckshot dogs that were crossed back into the Buzz Bomb and Otis lines. You'll also get plenty nose out of them cross like that. In general the weir creek dogs will usually be a little be a quicker, but again the outcross lines are gonna vary on speed. There are tons of Buckshot dogs out there that consistently run medium plus speed to upper medium.
