My running buddy has something that is deteriorating his muscles, especially his legs, in high-school he played the offensive and defensive line now his legs are about as big as my arms so when we run together we have to stay close to the pickup and only go to easy places for him to walk. In October I suggested he apply for a permit to ride his ATV on some of the WMA areas we run because I felt he was missing out on some of the best running in our area. He called me yesterday and said his permit came through and he had keys to three of his favorite places😃
We met at 11:30 today and I was excited to show him a new honey hole I found about three weeks ago but the dogs jumped one right off the tailgate and the race was on. He brought his son along and he was our designated shooter and on the second circle he connected with the bunny, so we headed in the direction I wanted to show him but it is about a mile and a half from the parking area and the dogs kept jumping rabbits and laying it to them, we finally made it to my "Rabbit Paradise" and the rabbits ran huge circles but with only one gunner it was tough to have him in the correct spot, so my buddy decided to take the ATV back and get our guns, when he got back the dogs had pushed the rabbit out 450 yards and were headed back at full speed, I loaded the old single shot .410 and headed for the brush just in time to connect on a big old buck rabbit😁 Then the dogs jumped another just 10 yards from the kill spot and pushed it back up to the end of the field where my buddy was waiting and he put the smack down on it. It was a great day of running, conditions were perfect for January 1st 20°, overcast, and just a slight breeze!!! The dogs ended the day with a screening race and 15 miles on😆

Your friend has the same type of disability, so it sounds, as I do. I have been diagnosed with neuropathy, nerve damage. Mine typically bothers me from the knees down. Other symptons are sudden shocks in areas just like being hit with a cattle prod. I have been told by two doctors, both specialist, that there is no cure. I pray his is something different. I am curious if he is a Vietnam Vet. Exposure to agent orange has been connected to the effect of diabetis, prostrate cancer and neuropathy. I have dealt with all three.

I didn't mean to distract from this post but felt that I might be helpful to him with information I have gathered with my condition. If he would like he can feel free to call me at 615 390 1776. I am happy you guys had a good hunt and wish nothing but the best for your friend.

Mr. Dunn he is only 44 years old so Vietnam wasn't his war, he does have diabetes also, and he knows there is no cure for his neuropathy so we run as much as we can each year. The permit will extend his enjoyment because he won't get tired as quickly and now his dogs can get back to the good places.

Does he use the Hemp oil or tablets, can he get a medical marijuana prescription from his doctor? It may help. JMO

I don't want to discourage him but I have used the Hemp on my legs and feet and it doesn't help. I am taking 14 pills per day with no relief. The most helpful is a pain pill that I take every 6 hours. I am up right now at 3:30 AM because the pain pill has worn off. There is some danger in pain medication and I never take more than prescribed. I am truly sorry to hear that it has started on him at such a young age. The sad part is that according to all of the doctors I have seen it has no known cure. He is in my prayers.

True Mr. Dunn it might not be a cure all, just wanted to throw it out as an option. I also take pain pills every 6 hours. Heck if you were up at 3:00 you should of called me. I was up as well, back and knee just aching. I took the pain pill and waited 1 hour then was able to go back to bed. My sleep is so JACKED because of pain I never ever thought this would ever happen to me. Still looking into a knee replacement, I am a little leary though.

Fox: I was scheduled to have my left knee replaced. Already had a date for the surgery. When I found out about the neuropathy and as told that there was not a cure, I called the doctor who was gonna do the knee replacement and we both agreed that the surgery was going to just put more pain on pain..

Robert I went to get a consult about knee replacement Dr. asked am I on medication I told him pain pills , he said he wouldn’t do the surgery. I was pissed, so I might live the rest of my life with out a knee replacement. So now learn to live with out it being replaced. I’ll be fine. JMO
