Still more fun than a day at work.
Have two females in heat, so took my 4 year old to public ground.
First 4 areas I went to, trucks with tailgates dropped everywhere, finally the 5th spot was not overrun/occupied with hunters. So I stopped there.
She ran one rabbit in the two hours we were there. Ran it in a line about 150 yards. She ran it slow. Once she went that far, she stopped barking. I could hear a whine every once in a while. So, I waited about 15 minutes, and she hadn’t moved, I walked to her and she was at a small brush pile. There was a big hole at the edge. I figured he went in a hole. Who knows.
No meat, never seen a rabbit, and had no idea there were still that many people that rabbit hunted close to me. This will be the 3rd day I have had to drive all over creation looking for an open spot to turn out. If this is an indication of my next two months hunting, it’s gonna be rough!
I’m gonna have to start showing up earlier to get a spot. May have to do like the local duck hunters and go two hours before daylight and wait for the sun to come up. Lol.
Still better than working!

Start knocking on some doors and ask to hunt their property, only for rabbits. If you can, ask if they would like a rabbit? If yes, dress and skin it for the owners of the property. JMO

I don’t rabbit hunt much now because of deer season and all of the deer hounds and trucks flying up the road . I like deer hunting also , but not truck hunting . This is the last week , but it will be a busy week because it is doe season also , that really brings out more people . If it is brown , it’s down . I can see why there are not many deer around here . Kind of a good thing because I don’t have to worry much about them running a deer .
