Station at Fort Riley Kansas years ago. Did some rabbit hunting and racoon hunting there. Wonderful people in Kansas made this Kentucky boy feel at home.
I was born and lived my first 2 years in Junction City (Fort Riley). Glad they treated you good. I love Kansas born and raised.

JMS I think Kansas has its own beauty, hard to beat its sunsets. Its an outdoorsmans paradise. If I had the accommodations I would have a few of you RD folks out for a few days.
Thanks for the replies folks.

Man that's some beautiful country!

Nice hunt. Thanks for posting the photos.

I like that big dog trailer! Wow

I need me one of them.

I wish I had Will's or Sea-moneys....money...Then I could afford grown mans toys!...nice.
Thanks, that is an old trailer I bought it cheep from FB the creator and original owner of this site. He brought it to Missouri to deliver to a guy who wanted it at a trial back in 2007ish, it was well used then as well. The guy backed out and Freddie didn't want to drag it back to AR. So I bought it cheep from him and took it home.
I just redid the trailer this summer, new floors and welded in some new braces, new fenders, new paint, lights and tires as well.
10 foot, 6' run, 4' enclosed.

Spini: You and others like you impress/amaze me at the talents you have. The ability to fix and update otherwise, equipment that will be good for several more years is beyond me and my abilities. It is funny but when I first enlisted in the Navy in 1958 they gave us test to determine what your best career path could/should be. My highest score was in mechanics and the lowest was in administration. I never could fix crap but could do well in administrative fields. I took typing in high school because it was labeled as a "crip" course. After basic training I was ordered to the Naval Station, 32nd street, San Diego. I became a mess cook. Later I was transferred to the Motion Picture Exchange. Typing got me into a job as #2 man. My boss couldn't type and I could. I got to work in the office. He was married and lived off base so he would come to work just before eight o'clock. He would stop and pick up a race form for Del Mar race track in San Diego. I had the coffee fixed so we got a cup of coffee and started picking our horses we bet on. He would leave about eleven AM and head for the race track. I ran the motion picture exchange until I was transferred. So long mechanic skills.

Great story, you ever win at the track?
Thanks, but my neighbor did the welding for me. I can weld but he did it for a living for 40 years, soooo!
I did the rest. I like the old trailer and probably dont have but $1200.00 in it, including new tires and price of trailer.

Are you asking about dog races and horse races. If so, the answer is yes to both. But not big. My first ever trip to Caliente race track in Tijuana, Mexico, two friends of mine and I went to the dog races. We bet quinallas (sp) where you pick three dogs. Six dollar bet. They sent me to buy the tickets in one race and when I gave the money to the seller he asked me how much. I told him two of the dogs numbers, paid him for them separate, and went to the window I was supposed to go to and bought the ticket for the three of us. I remember that one of the dogs we bet on was a solid black greyhound named salad plate. All three dogs came in just as we had bet and paid well. My buddies were happy and talking about how much we would split and I said that I had done a little better than that. I showed them my ticket and it was a good bit. Can't beat beginners luck.
