Headed out today to N. Az for my sons archery elk hunt. Will post some pictures later on but will be hunting from 6500-11000’. Hope I can breathe!! Lol
Good luck and take plenty of pictures to share with us .
A elk hunt during the rut is #1 on my list of things that I would like to do , but with a rifle or muzzleloader . You are a hunter if you get close enough to get one with a bow .
No we have hunted area for over 30 years. Same area I have killed several elk. Largest to date is a 7x6 that I called in and arrowrd 10 years ago.We lived in Az for 25 years so this area we hunt is kinda like our home turf. Public National Forest!!
A thought just hit me. How would elk steaks work for Saturday night at the 2021 hunt? I am sure we can find someone to cook them so you don't have to LT. I never have tasted one.
Well we made it to Az late Saturday, set up camp and hunted yesterday and this morning!! My son has some young buck help so I decided to stay in camp this afternoon and cook us a good dinner, Steak, fried taters and onions, ranch style beans and corn on the cob. No luck yet. Very dry and warmer than it needs to be and elk aren’t talking so hard to locate. Just getting started tho. Sorry I couldn’t get photos to load right. Very poor service where we are camped
Well we finally got a little rain shower and about 10 degree drop in temps. Elk started talking and we called in 8 different bulls but no shot with a bow on first 7. Number 8 didn’t survive. Joe drilled him at 32 yds. Great hunt with my son and two of our great friends from Az. Headed home Saturday.
