Default Worm treatment

I bought some Ivomec at TSC today. I've been giving my dogs Zimecterin Gold once a month. The lady at TSC told me that Ivomec takes care of all the different kinds of worms. So do I need to stop the Zimecterin when I start the Ivomec?

Were u giving zermectrin gold or jus zermecterin? If it was just plain zermectrin then ivomec will do the same. Zermectrin gold has another active ingredent for tape worms.

I was reading the packages and it looks like ivomec IS zimecterin. Is this right or wrong? If this is right then I guess i'll keep giving them the zimecterin till I run out and then switch to ivomec. Trobin, are you saying that once a month is too much? It looks like zimecterin is 1.57 % and ivomec is 1% active ingredient. Is that right? And is that why you are saying that once a month is too much?

zimecterin gold has two active ingredients. one is ivermectin and the other is paraziquintal. i give ivomec twice a month. at 1/10cc per 10 lbs of body at body weight.

Ivomec will kill everything but tapeworms. Zimectrin gold, equimax and safegard will kill everything including tapeworms. It's good to swap up from month to month ecpesially with the way dogs are being tested positive for heartworms lately on ivomec.

well, to reply to my own post, all the other wormers have ivomec in them and that's what gets the heartworms but it's still a good idea to switch up so they don't get immune to one wormer cause that's what's happening with the ivomec

I didn't think zimecterin would work on heart worms. So if it's good for all worms why not use it instead of ivomec? So now I have a 40 dollar bottle ot ivomec that i'm not sure I want to use.

Do you all inject the ivomec or put it in their mouths? The lady at Tractor Supply told me to put it in their mouths.

ramsey im treating twice a month rather than once. ask several vets in your area what the test results are for your area. they have to keep records of the results. i would assume that the problem in tennennesse is not near as great as south louisiana.

yea I'm sure the problems worse the further south u go. I have a uncle in Missouri though that had a dog test positive for heartworms that was on heartgaurd all it's life. U can inject it or give it by mouth. I always give it by mouth.

I've never used the zimecterin gold. I've used equimax, safegaurd and ivomec. If your dog has tapeworms u can c it in their stool, so u don't have to treat for tapeworms every month. U get more for your money with the ivomec an that's mainly what I use and I try to swap up every two to three months with safegaurd. That will eliminate any possibillty of tapeworms and so they don't get immune to one wormer. I didn't like using the equimax because I wasted more than anything trying to get it out of the horse tube. Alot of people like it though. The safegaurd is reasonably priced and it's in a bottle so u can just draw it out and squirt it in the back of their mouth. This is just what I do, everyone does it a little different. If I were u I would use the ivomec every month and the zimecterin every two to three months. Definatly use the ivomec, u didn't waste your money there.
