Default Saterday hare hunt

2 for the day. Ran all day on icy snow but the dogs did a good job. Ready for the stew pot.

Bring them cottontail dogs north. You'll never forget it. Hare will give you some hound music!

One day, hopefully. How are the coyotes by you? Any trouble with them messing with the hounds??

We have quit a few coyote here but they don't usually cause a problem. Once or twice a season we will see in the area of the dogs or hear them and we pick up and move. We have a lot of places to hunt so it's not really a problem.

We have a few coyotes here, rarely see one (seen 3 in 12 years live) and don't hear them very often. Neighbor set some snares one year and got 3 in a few days. My favorite running spot is so thick I can't see much at all, hardly ever kill a rabbit there. I think about them coyotes in there but who knows?

There are a lot around here we can hear them just about every night if we are outside. The other day they were so close we could hear them inside the house as well. But we have never had them bother the dogs in their kennels or while hunting.

Hornbeam, just reading this post again and on a hunt a few weeks back in central Missouri, we had 7 dogs down
Hammering a rabbit and they drove a big Bobcat out.
He had a head on him the size of a Pit bull. I threw some lead at him just to keep him movin along.

We see bobcat from time to time while running dogs too. They're after the same game as us I suppose. We see a lot of coyote tracks and some cat tracks in the snow but don't have much trouble from them. It makes a guy a little nervous thinking about it sometimes but always works out ok. We try to stear clear of them as much as we can.
